American’s review of British beach goes viral as he asks ‘what the hell is this?’

An American has left Brits in hysterics with his review video review of the “horrible” day he had at the beach in Weston-super-Mare.

Nick Alexander is from Miami, but recently moved to Wolverhampton – where his mum previously lived – and has been sharing his experiences of sampling English culture, as reported by Bristol Live.

In recent videos uploaded to his Mr Miami UK TikTok account, Nick posted a trio of clips where he explained: “Today I tried to go swimming in a British beach and it didn’t work out so well. It’s just horrible, what the hell is this?”

Excited to make the most of the hot weather and ready to compare Weston-super-Mare to the beaches in Miami, Nick found himself walking across “mud” with the sea “like 20 miles away”.

He showed himself ankle deep in the sludge with the water still far away on the horizon, commentating: “I don’t know who decided to call this place a beach but where I come from beaches don’t look like this.

“Overall it ended up being an absolutely s*** day. I didn’t get to go swimming.”

The trip was rescued somewhat by a visit to the fun fair, before he said: “I’m definitely going to go to Cornwall or Devon to find me a better beach because I need to go swimming this summer in the UK, baby.”

Adding his suggestion to improve the experience at Weston-super-Mare, he added: “They should build a little path all the way to the water for when the tide goes out. A little bridge type thing.”

The clips racked up more than 100,000 views, as one person commented to say: “Can only imagine how underwhelming this must be. We love our beaches in the UK.”

A second said: “Ah noo. You went to the wrong beach, I promise they are not all like that.”

And another was left in stitches by the brutal review, adding: “I actually laughed out loud, this is so accurate.”
